Basic acoustics seminar - Thursday 26th March
The participants will learn basic principles, guidelines and useful ideas about how to improve the acoustics of a control room, a recording booth, or a listening room.
This seminar will cover:
- some basic acoustic principles and sound behaviour of small to medium-sized rooms
- the difference between sound insulation and acoustics of a room
- how to improve insulation, practical examples
- how to treat the acoustics, tips and rules of thumb
- All other aspects when treating a room such as ventilation, airco, cable trunking, windows, etc...
This practical approach to acoustics will be given by Bart Willems, CEO of Amptec and acoustics expert.
The seminar will run from 9.30 until 16.30.
The number of participants is limited to 20 people.

Monitor mixing workshop - Wednesday 22nd April
The workshop will be given by Peter Vandergoten, graduated as bachelor in electro-mechanics, who is an all-round audio technician with experience at several broadcasters, and started his “rock & roll carreer” at EML/PRG. Since some years he combines ownership of 4ears, an audio mixing and production company, with production responsible for ONE-CALL GROUP.

Monitor sound engineer for: Girls in Hawaii, Zap Mama, Hooverphonic and Zornik
Some of the topics we discuss:
expectations of the band, microphone positioning, event location, division of tasks, line/sound-check, tuning a wedge, psychology of monitoring, attitude of the monitor mixer, influence of mic position for the monitor engineer, Fx, compression, stage monitor vs IEM mixes, panning, ...
A basic knowledge of mixing is required.
The number of participants is limited to 12 people.

Basic microphone techniques seminar - Wednesday 29th April
Microphones are widely used in today’s audiovisual industry. However a good understanding of the basic principles is essential in order to gain optimum results.
During this seminar both theoretical principles and practices will be discussed.
Some of the topics:
- Transducer principles (dynamic, ribbon, (electret)condenser)
- Directionality
- Frequency response
- How to read microphone specifications
- Speech intelligibility
- Microphone positions for vocals & musical instruments
- Live vs. studio
- Stereo techniques
This training will be given by Brecht Ieven, DPA product specialist at Amptec and all-round audio technician with over 12 years of experience in theatre, broadcast and music.
