Jean-Michel Jarre is een 'synth-hero' die al heel wat jaartjes meedraait. De laatste jaren laat hij regelmatig van zich horen en dat is altijd een genoegen want hij heeft meestal interessante dingen te vertellen. Onlangs verscheen zijn nieuwste album, Equinoxe Infinity
Inderdaad dit album borduurt voort op thema's van zijn meest succesvolle album uit 1978, Equinoxe. Jarre noemt het 'Equinoxe on Steroids', het is niet bedoeld als directe opvolger van het 40 jaar geleden verschenen origineel, maar "A meditation about the ‘Watchers’ illustrated on the original’s album cover”.
“The ‘Watchers’ on the Equinoxe cover have always fascinated me,.
I thought about what might have happened to these creatures in the four decades that have passed. I asked myself too what might happen to them in the 40 years to come. So, I started developing ideas for the artwork of the new album even before starting the recording sessions.
I came across an artist called Filip Hodas on Instagram and asked him if he would be interested in designing two cover versions based on my vision for the record.”
Het album (cd of vinyl) is dus verkrijgbaar met twee verschillende hoezen, maar ook gebundeld met de originele Equinoxe als Ultimate Project Box.
