Chiptune blijft onverminder populair. Er zijn diverse plug-ins maar ook allerlei hardware speciaal voor Chiptune, bijvoorbeeld de HapiNES L van Twisted Electrons
HapiNES L is de nieuwe grotere uitvoering van de HapiNES groovebox met een op de RP2A07 chip ( Nintendo Nes games concole) gebaseerde engine. Het is een tabletop module met vier sporen/stemmen; bass, 2x pulse wave met pwm en een track met 59 drumsounds. De L versie heeft een class AB preamp, midi in plus sync in/out. Met de bijbehorende plug-in kun je de HapiNES L editten en syncen met je daw.

Van de bekende Twisted Electrons Acid8 8 bit desktop bassynthesizer (test in Interface 208) is nu de MkIII uitvoering verkrijgbaar met een nieuw filter, realtime fx en dubbele oscillatoren. Hij heeft dezelfde behuizing en aansluitingen als de HapiNES L en eveneens is er een bijbehorende plug-in. Acid8 MKIII kost € 255,-
